The Special Education Team at College View Elementary is committed to providing a quality educational experience based on the individual needs of each child. Special education services provide specialized instruction for students to minimize the impact of their disability through a continuum of services, ranging from services provided in a general education classroom to small group instruction to fully contained classroom setting.
Students identified with a disability may also receive support from paraprofessionals, our school nurse or health tech, school psychologist, school social worker, speech therapists, occupational services, or physical therapists, along with other special service providers if needed.
Affective Needs (AN) center programs are specially designed to support students who struggle with intensive emotional and behavioral regulation skills. In AN programs, we focus on providing intensive specially designed instruction to build pro-social and school engagement behaviors, coping skills, and emotional and behavioral regulation skills within a safe and consistent academic environment. Students who come to AN programs have frequent and intensive behavioral challenges in their previous setting and require more structure and focused instruction to develop their skill set to access a less restrictive educational setting. There is a strong emphasis on providing interventions that support students’ mental health and social well-being.
